The New Family
Replacing the previous 9th Gen Coffee Lake-H series, Intel’s got a new family on 10th Gen as Comet Lake-H family, running on 14nm process and boasted for high performing NUCs. The new series consists of three processors, namely; Core i5, Core i7 and Core i9 with cores/thread configuration as 4/8, 6/12 and 8/16 respectively. Though Intel reported these Chips to clock speeds of more than 5GHz, it completely depends on the cooling and thermal venting design of notebook/PC. A perfect system supporting this configuration will definitely showcase the reported clock speed. Moreover, Intel’s advanced tech as Thermal Velocity Boost can push the speeds even further.
Competition
Aside from unveiling this prominent series, Intel’s has also depicted the variances between their existing series against AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series chips. Starting with performance, Intel used applications as Premier Pro, RUGS, XPRT, 3DMark and PC Mark 10 to showcase the processing power and speeds. Further, gaming tests were done on playing, CSGO, World of Tanks enCore, F1 2019, War: Three Kingdoms, Halo: MCC etc AMD’s set to launch its latest Threadripper and Ryzen 4000 series in the ongoing CES event. Before that, Intel mocked AMD’s Ryzen 7 3700U against their Core i7-10710U chip, with latter displaying the 3x faster rate than former. Intel finally resulted saying that their Ice Lake and Comet Lake chips are far superior to AMD’s Vega series, and noting that both chips are of some configuration as 4 cores and 8 threads.
